As leaders, there are four very important questions we should ask ourselves regularly. These same four questions are also ones you can use to help identify potential leaders in your organization.

What are these four questions?

According to John Maxwell, these are the questions.

  1. Are you grounded?
  2. Are you growing?
  3. Are you grateful?
  4. Are you generous?

These indicate whether a person has solid values, potential for growth, appreciation for people and opportunities, and a giving spirit. Together, these are the hallmark qualities of an effective leader.

In this podcast, John illustrates these four tenets of leadership with interesting stories and valuable life lessons he has learned from experience.

Take a few minutes this week to listen and reflect.

  • Are you on track?
  • Is there some area that needs attention?
  • If you were looking for a potential leader, would you hire you?

If that last question proves cringe-worthy, you will likely find the solution in one of these four areas.
