Indicators
- “Something really should have been done earlier, before the situation got so out of hand!”
- “We weren’t sure what to do or where to start, so we just maintained the status quo. Growth is pretty much stalled.”
- “It started off well enough, but then it just fell by the wayside in lieu of more new and exciting ideas. So, now we have a ton of unfinished projects but no solid income generation.”
- “Products and programs never really launch well. They just go out the door half-baked, and then we have to fix the problems that result from it.”
Just like the lights on your vehicle’s dashboard, these statements are indicators that something needs attention.
That “something” is your team.
Identifiers
The good news is, if you have identified the issue, then you have also identified the path to a solution: DISC-based Teams
DISC-based teams are teams that bring complementary strengths to the table in service to others. These complementary strengths, when working together, create strong companies and amazing results.
Implementers
You have observed the indicators and identified the path to a resolution. Now, how do you implement solutions?
At this point, it becomes a matter of mapping your team members to the point where their strengths can lead.
From the example above, it would look like this:
- “Something needs to be done…now!”
You need a D – Decision Maker and Driver - “Growth is stalled.”
You need an I – Innovator and Initiator - “We have a ton of ideas and projects started but no income.”
You need an S – Support and Systems Creator - “We need efficiency and quality control.”
You need a C – Catalyst and Compliance Specialist
Sometimes the best answers come from a simple framework. This may not resolve all the issues you face, but it is a good place to start!

Action Steps
- Take some time to identify your current challenges. List them like we have done here.
- Then list each of your team members, along with their respective dominant strengths.
- Finally, for each challenge, ask yourself what strength (D, I, S, or C) is needed to lead through each one.
If you’re not sure who on your team has strengths in each area, the Maxwell DISC Assessment is a great tool for clarifying each person’s strengths.
