There are cycles in a year where a certain type of energy prevails. Fall, for example, statistically brings the highest levels of productivity. Summertime is more a time of relaxed activity and creativity. As leaders, it behooves us to pay attention to the energy of ourselves and our people and to plan accordingly for the most impact.
This time of year – the week before New Year’s Day – has its own unique energy. It is the week when we instinctively get rid of the ideas and things that no longer serve us in order to make room for the new ones that fit our future vision and goals.
For leaders, part of this cleanup process must necessarily include cleaning up some of the mental clutter that has accumulated throughout the year. Are you mentally beating yourself up for the things you did or didn’t do this year? Are you feeling like you’ve fallen short of your intended goals? Are you suffering from “imposter syndrome” as you observe the success of others?
If so, use the energy of this week to “clean up your mental mess.” And this podcast is a great resource to help you do that. Take some time to listen and apply this week, and you will find yourself ready to begin the new year with a whole new mindset.
