Three Ways to Maximize the NEW Year

Whether you ascribe to the idea of New Years resolutions or not, there is a shifting point that happens as the new year starts. It is the shift toward starting new things and toward productivity.

It is a wave that you, as a leader, can use to jump start your success for the year.

Three Ways to Maximize the Natural Momentum

Here are three ways you can maximize this natural momentum to propel yourself and your team to higher success.

Notice the shifting point.

For some teams, this happens immediately after the holiday. For others, it may occur the second or third week of the new year.

Your accounting team, for example, may need a week or two to wrap up the previous year before the new year energy comes. Your sales team may be ready to hit the ground running that first week. Your role as a leader is to manage the energy flow through this period so that all efforts are recognized and maximized.

You need your accounting team to finalize the previous year. And you also need your sales team to start pushing forward immediately because they, and your customers, are ready.

Energize your team around a central focus.

The natural energy is there.

D-wired drivers are ready to drive forward swiftly. I-wired connectors and creators want to connect and create. S-wired organizers are set to re-organize and set up systems. And C-wired quality-driven team members are ready to get a project efficiently from Point A to Point B, with quality.

Combine these natural energy high points with the energy of the new year, and you have a powerful force to move your organization and goals forward faster.

But the key is to create a central focus. Otherwise, all this energy goes in different directions and accomplishes little. Laser-focused energy allows you and your team to systematically cut through challenges at amazing speed.

Watch for opportunities and obstacles.

As a leader, part of your role in looking forward is two-fold. You are looking for both opportunities and obstacles. As your team is using the new year energy dynamics to move forward, how can you help remove the obstacles that may slow the momentum? And what opportunities are there for the work they are doing to serve in bigger and better ways?

This is your time as a leader to look forward while your team naturally drives energy toward initiatives. While other times of the year will require your focus on supporting the team and providing momentum, this time of year is your chance to focus on vision and strategy.

Here’s to a maximized new year!
