This is the time of year when leaders are naturally in the mindset of reflection on the past year and anticipation of the next. Finishing the current year’s initiatives and goal setting for the coming year are top of mind for most business leaders.
It’s also the time when vision should be revisited, first to be sure it is still the correct vision; and second, to be sure initiatives and goals are in alignment with it. Once the vision is established and confirmed in the mind of the leader, it must be shared with the team.
And that is the subject of a recent Maxwell Leadership podcast on Transferring the Vision. In this podcast, John Maxwell talks about transferring the vision in ways that appeal to your team emotionally (the heart) and logically (the head). Leaders will intuitively share one approach; but to be fully effective, they must learn to apply both heart and head, emotions and logic.
If your team gets the vision to both levels, it is amazing what can be accomplished.
The next time you’re reflecting and planning – which is right about now – take the opportunity to listen in. You’ll be glad you did!
