Welcome to September!
This month marks the beginning of the most productive four months of the year. It’s as if some invisible someone has raised the green flag for everyone to start the race toward the finish line.
For students, it’s back to school. For businesses, it’s back to high productivity.
The natural energy is there to do great things.
And because everyone wants to win, this is the time to set yourself and your team up to do just that.
Get Ready
Now is the time to give your plan a quick review.
- What is on track?
- What is off track?
- What really must be done between now and year-end to reach critical objectives?
Racing teams know that every extra weight creates drag; and, by this time of year, there can be quite a bit of added weight from project delays and scope creep. What needs to be jettisoned in order to reduce the drag factor?
While it is contrary to what some believe, a lighter load creates tighter focus. And that is what you want in this final round – focus and agility.
Get Set
In this case, it is mindset.
You can have the best-laid plans, but if you do not have the mindset across your team to carry them out, you will stall out in the first round. This is the time to check in with your team.
- Do they have what they need to do the work that is necessary?
- Have you communicated the vision, mission, and goals clearly?
- Do you have the right people in the right seats on the proverbial bus?
- Are you allowing and equipping each person to work in their strengths zone? This is where the magic happens. When you have a team where each member is serving at their highest level, it brings the productivity of the whole team to the highest levels.
Go!
With a solid plan and strong mindset, you and your team are set to take action. This is not about perfection. It is about starting your productivity engines. You can always adjust as you go. In fact, you must, so you may as well get started.
As the old saying goes, “He who hesitates is lost.”
This is the time to move forward with speed and confidence. You have the plan, the team, the mindset, and the focus.
Now it is time to go do great things!
