You have seen it. A team flails through the first half of a game. Their moves are uncoordinated, their energy is lethargic, and their spirit is low.
And then, their quarterback takes a hard hit – the kind that could take a person out. The medical team assembles. The clock ticks in slow motion. The crowd collectively holds their breath.
And then it happens.
Refusing to give up, he fights his way back on his feet.
The crowd goes wild.
And the team sparks back to life. They are fired up and determined to win – and, indeed, they do!
What happened?
In the first half, they played as individuals, just going through the motions.
In the second half, they played as a team, with respect for the leader who refused to quit.
Now, let’s apply this to life and business.
Are you and your people working ALONE, as individuals, or as a TEAM?
ALONE looks like this:
Apathy – Lack of caring
Lethargy – Lack of energy
Obstruction – Lack of respect
Negativity – Lack of positivity
Ease – Lack of work ethic
TEAM looks like this:
Tenacity – It’s the leader who refuses to quit. It’s the team that won’t give up the fight.
Enthusiasm – This is the spirit that drives the team forward.
Attitude – This is the mindset that helps individuals unite as one team.
Motion – This is the driver – the action – that propels the team to victory.
Consider your leadership and your team.
- Do you see a team acting as one, or individuals acting alone?
- Do you see team spirit, or apathy?
- Do you see hard work and forward motion, or obstruction?
- Do you see enthusiasm, or negativity?
What can you do to be the quarterback that sets the example for your team?
Every day, you and your team have a choice. You can trudge through the field and lose the game; or you can get fired up and win!
