If I say the word Leader, what do you think of?
A seasoned executive with several decades experience?
The person who does all the talking?
The person in charge?
The guy or gal who makes the tough decisions?
Well…you’re right, each of those might very well be a leader, however don’t limit your view of leadership to that narrow a focus.
A leader is the person who influences others.
Adolf Hitler was a leader.
Mussolini was one.
Jesus a leader.
Bill Gates is one, so was Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg is a one and a young one too.
The fact is that when you replace the word leader with influence you see leadership from it’s purest form. Influence, the one that counts the most. Here’s a quick 1 minute explanation.
Now who do you influence?
